Welsh Language Promotion Strategy – Consultation

Dear parents and carers

A Welsh Language Promotion Strategy has been developed which sets out how we propose to promote the Welsh language and its use in the area.

Whilst not a predominantly Welsh speaking area we are fiercely proud of our language, culture and heritage. We are conscious of the place it has in our lives; its use and visibility, as part of our history, as an irritant at times, but always as something to be proud of whether we are Welsh speakers or not. The strategy has tried to balance these, sometimes conflicting, facets of the language while helping to meet the requirements of the Welsh language standards in a reasonable and inclusive manner.

We are currently consulting on the draft strategy and would be interested to hear your views, which will be key to the strategy’s finished content. To give your views, please visit:

www.npt.gov.uk/consultations

A reference copy of the draft strategy along with copies of the consultation response form will also be available at Neath and Port Talbot Civic Centres and all libraries within the county borough.
